Falmouth Food Tour

Our Falmouth Food Tour is run in collaboration with Falmouth Heritage Walks and offers up a delicious blend of Jamaican food and history. In a two and a half hour guided walking tour of the historic town of Falmouth, sample nuggets of the local cuisine which has been seasoned, marinated and steeped in centuries of history. Discover what plantation life was like when “Sugar was King”, and how the life and rhythm of the sugar plantation shaped what our peoples ate and how it was prepared. Savour the flavours of contemporary cuisine and experience through various food tastings, how Jamaicans have used creative cooking methods and a fusion of culinary practices from different cultures to develop dishes that sustained our people through slavery, colonialism, wartime and independence.

In between tastings, view the Georgian architecture adopted from England by many plantation owners and preserved on several of the town’s buildings today. Learn how the town of Falmouth became a thriving seaport in its hey-dey, and enjoy the local fare and interaction with local vendors against the intriguing back drop of the rich, historic features characterizing this town.

Leave our tour with an appreciation for Jamaica’s history, savoured through its food and culture.

tour tips

General Tour Tips:

  • We recommend that you take one of our tours at the beginning of your stay in Jamaica. Jamaica Culinary Tours will help introduce you to some of the culinary gems across the island to which you can return for breakfast, lunch or dinner during your stay!
  • Each tour is unique so feel free to take more than one of our tours!

Please Remember:

  • Our tours are either full or partial walking tours, and some tour destinations may have uneven terrain, streets and sidewalks, so wear comfortable shoes.
  • Jamaica is a hot country, and temperatures go up during the summer months, so comfortable and cool clothing is recommended. Sun visors, caps or hats and sun glasses are also recommended, along with sun block.
  • We provide a bottle of water for each guest, but as it does get fairly hot, you may wish to bring extra water.
  • We do recommend that you bring strollers for babies and toddlers or young children who may tire easily.
  • We can accomodate wheelchairs and scooters on our walking Falmouth Food Tour, but do advise us in advance if you or a member of your party will be using either of these. (Unfortunately we are unable to accomodate wheelchairs on our Falmouth to St. Ann combo walking and bus tour at this time)
  • Do let us know ahead of time if you or a member of your party has difficulty walking or standing for extended periods of time.
  • We can cater for vegetarians, but unfortunately we are unable to make substitutions for vegans or for dietary restrictions and food allergies (such as gluten-free or dairy-free). There isn't always a "next best" option that meets the special dietary needs of each of our guests. We are sorry for the inconvenience but, we truly appreciate your understanding on this issue. Please feel free to e-mail us with specific queries.
  • Tours are held rain or shine.
  • Gratuities for the tour guides and drivers and servers are appreciated but not mandatory. If you wish to leave a tip, a 15 - 20% tip is within the norm.
